Description
Averevsky is located at a height of about 20 m above the river level. The name “Averevsky” first appeared on the 1976 working map of V.M. Sugrobov. At that time, it was a very active geyser, and it was named after hydrogeologist Valery Averyev, who died in a plane crash in 1968. Geyser emitted almost 1000 m3 of boiling water per day, which is an order of magnitude more than the daily flow rate of the Velikan geyser (Sugrobov et al., 2009). The activity of this geyser has changed greatly with time: Initially it was a small, constantly operating boiling spring, then in 1974–1980 it started to work as a powerful geyser with a high water fountains up to 10–15 m and a period 10–20 min, in 1981 the period was  46–72 min, in 1990–1995 it was 12–31 min (Leonov, 2017). In 2001, it became a pulsating boiling spring with a very high flow rate (up to 10 liter/sec): the constant fountains of boiling water are up to 3–5 m high. The flowing water forms a hot stream with a flow rate up to 10 liter/sec, which flows into the Geysernaya River.
