Description
Boroda (Beard) is a dwarf geyser that was located on the Piip wall of dwarf geysers (named after B.I. Piip - the 1st director of the Institute of Volcanology). The geyserite edifice of this small geyser was as a bright spot on the slope and attracted attention. The first description of this geyser was made in 1991 by members of the Geyser Observation and Study Association (GOSA), USA. An employee of the Kronotsky Nature Reserve, V.A. Nikolaenko, came up with the name of the geyser - "Boroda", such as a colored geyserite plume widening downwards, resembling a huge beard, descended from the griffin down the wall (Bryan, 1991). The full activity cycle of the geyser was 28 minutes. Water fountains were 1–2 m high and up to 2 minutes long (Sugrobov et al., 2009). In 2007, the location of the Boroda geyser was flooded, and in 2014 it was covered with a thick layer of mudflow deposits.
