Development of spatial data infrastructure (SDI) is one of the modern trends of geoinformation technologies. SDI of the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (IVS) FEB RAS has been developing since 2008. Metadata management system, storage and management of spatial data system and geoportal are the main elements of the SDI. Metadata management system provides powerful tools for creation, editing, browsing of metadata, efficient instruments for searching for data and services. The geoportal is a single point of access to metadata catalogue, collections of volcanological and seismological data, and geoservices. One of the collections is available in the Volcanoes of Kurile-Kamchatka Island Arc (VOKKIA) information web system, which integrates available volcanological data related to the volcanoes in Kamchatka, the Kurile Islands and adjacent seas. Today the VOKKIA system includes the sections: Volcanoes, Eruptions, Rocks, Monitoring, Images, Geoservices, Bibliography. Kamchatka Holocene Volcanism geoservice of the VOKKIA system shows the centers of both historic and prehistoric volcanic eruptions, age and composition of deposits etc. This paper gives a detailed description of development and core capabilities of the geoservice. Based on the international OGC standards, the geoservices allow the wider range of users to access the spatial data in contrast with the desktop GIS. Spatial metadata, data and geoservices published on the IVS FEB RAS Geoportal can be easily found through the Internet and are available for the international scientific society contributing into increased rate of data exchange between researchers.

Most of the hot .springs and all high-temperature hydrothermal systems are located within the three volcanic belts: East Kamchatka, South Kamchatka and Srcdinny Ridge connected with the zones of subduction. At the present time subduction beneath the Sredinny Ridge has stopped and the Central Kamchatka depression is now a relict of the continental slope of deep-sea trench. This is supported not only by the geological data but also by the fact that heat release by hot springs in the Sredinny Ridge is an order of magnitude lower then within East and South Kamchatka. Distribution of the hot springs is similar in all three belts. At 90-100 km width of the volcanic belts and of zones of the hydrothermal activity over 95% of heat is released by the sources located within the 45-km wide near-frontal zones. Voicanic fronts of the arcs are the clear boundaries beyond which heat release discontinues sharply. The descreate heat release is observed along the volcanic belts at the typical distances of 70-100 km between the maxim of heat release. Quantitative estimation of the probable heat and water contribution into the hydrothermal system formation showed that the only real heal source are the near surface magmatic chambers. Scenario of the probable heat and mass transfer leading to the formation of the hydrothermal systems and connected with them ore deposits has been considered.

The reports, introduced on scientific session of the First International Kuril-Kamchatka field workshop, are published in this book. Papers are devoted to studying the geothermal and mineral resources of modern volcanism areas and, first of all, to researching the long-living ore-forming hydrothermal-magmatic systems of insular arcs. The following scientific themes in six sections are submited: (1) geothermal resources, common problems; (2) structure, thermal and power supply of hydrothermal-magmatic systems; (3) petrology, mineralogy and geochemistry of rocks; (4) geochemistry and dynamics of gases and natural waters; (5) ore mineralization in geothermal systems; (6) seismicity of geothermal regions and geotechnological aspects. The tendencies of development of researches, the new ideas and concrete actual materials on an example of geothermal fields of Kuril Islands and Kamchatka, and also New Zealand, Philippines, USA etc., are discussed. The new tasks of geothermal and mineral resources studying are formulated.
The book is prepared for specialists in Earths sciences, geologists, volcanologists, hydrogeologists, geochemistris, perologists, mineralogists etc.; for teaches, post-graduate students and students, all readers which are interested by problems of a geothermie and hydrothermal mineral-ore formation.

High hydrothermal activity is concentrated in the crater of Ushishir volcano which represents an almost closed bay connected with the ocean through a narrow and shallow strait. In their composition the thermal waters can be divided into two groups: (1) thermal waters of sea origin of high mineralization altered as a result of high-temperature interaction with rocks and (2) waters of sea origin heated in the near-surface conditions and mixed with fresh meteoric water. Ion and gas geothermometry as well as mixing plots in Na - 1ма_к and CI - coordinates suggest that these thermal vents are fed by steam-water geothermal reservoir with temperature of about 260°C; mineralization of the fluid in equilibrium zone is 23 g/l, C02 pressure being about 4 bar. Calculations of the equilibrium solution composition in the closed "water-andesite" system indicate that the observed Mg concentration could be formed in a wide temperature range but at low, lower than 0,01, mass rock-water ratios. Reequilibration of the solution at temperatures of 170-200°C in the near-surface conditions is most probable. The main discharge takes place primarily in the intersection zone of the ring-shaped and linear faults. Through the ring-shaped fracture mostly gas and steam-heated waters are discharged.
