Current State: A moderate explosive eruption of the volcano continues. According to visual data from Severo-Kurilsk, explosions sent ash up to 4 km a.s.l. on 12-17 April; ash clouds drifted to the east, southeast and southwest of the volcano. Satellite data by KVERT showed a thermal anomaly over the volcano on 13, and 16-17 April, the volcano was quiet or obscured by clouds in the other days of the week. 
Danger Prognosis for Aviation: A moderate explosive eruption of the volcano continues. Ash explosions up to 6 km (19,700 ft) a.s.l. could occur at any time. Ongoing activity could affect low-flying aircraft and airport of Severo-Kurilsk.
