Location: The volcano is situated in the northern sector of the Eastern volcanic zone of Kamchatka 10 km east of Kronotsky lake, 225 km northeast from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

Description

Kronotsky Volcano with an edifice base diameter of 16 km and a neck-filled summit crater is a typical stratovolcano. On the southern slope of the volcano there is a chain of 7 cinder cones and three explosion craters.

Potencial Hazard
Summit eruptions are possible with ash plumes, ash falls, pyroclastic flows, lava flows, and lahars. The southern sector of the volcano is also an area of possible lateral eruptions.
