Description

Vysoky Volcano is an irregular stratovolcano cone with a crater about 400 m in size at the top. The structure of the volcano is stretched across the Gamchen ridge. It is curious that this most active volcano was not included in the early catalogs (for example, Vlodavets, 1957; Fedotov and Masurenkov, 1991; Simkin and Siebert, 1994). Field studies by tephrochronologists have shown that Vysoky was active from the beginning of the Holocene until about 2000 14C years ago (http://www.kscnet.ru/ivs/volcanoes/holocene/main/main.htm).
