Description

Zheltovsky is a double stratovolcano with a somma and a peak destroyed by explosions, with a volcano base diameter of 10-12 km. The lower part of the volcano edifice is formed mainly by lavas, while the upper part is formed by the alternation of lavas and pyroclastics in approximately equal proportions. There are several extrusive domes in the 500x800 m volcanic crater: the largest with a base diameter of 600 m is located in the southwestern part of the crater, four domes up to 200 m in diameter are located along the eastern edge of the crater. At the foot of the volcano, there are more than ten cinder and lava cones up to 2 km in diameter. The age of the volcano is estimated at 25-30 thousand years.
