Kamchatkan and Northern Kuriles Volcanic Activity
December 04, 2013, all time is UTC
SHEVELUCH VOLCANO (CAVW #1000-27-)
56.64 N, 161.32 E; Elevation 10768 ft (3283 m), the dome elevation ~8200 ft (2500 m)
Aviation Color Code is ORANGE
A growth of the lava dome continues - moderate ash explosions up to 4-5 km a.s.l., strong fumarolic activity and incandescence of the dome summit, and hot avalanches accompany this process. Satellite data showed a thermal anomaly over the volcano.
KARYMSKY VOLCANO (CAVW #1000-13-)
54.05 N, 159.44 E; Elevation 4874 ft (1486 m)
Aviation Color Code is ORANGE
Moderate seismic activity of the volcano continues. Probably Strombolian and weak Vulcanian activity of the volcano occur: satellite data showed a thermal anomaly over the volcano.
KLYUCHEVSKOY VOLCANO (CAVW #1000-26-)
56.06 N, 160.64 E; Elevation 15580 ft (4750 m)
Aviation Color Code is YELLOW
Weak seismic activity of the volcano continues. Satellite data showed a weak thermal anomaly over the volcano.
BEZYMIANNY VOLCANO (CAVW #1000-25-)
55.97 N, 160.6 E; Elevation 9453 ft (2882 m)
Aviation Color Code is YELLOW
Seismicity of the volcano was not detected. Satellite data showed a weak thermal anomaly over the volcano.
PLOSKY TOLBACHIK VOLCANO (CAVW #1000-24-)
55.83 N, 160.39 E; Elevation 10119 ft (3085 m)
Aviation Color Code is YELLOW
Weak seismic activity of the volcano continues. Satellite data showed a thermal anomaly over the northern area of Tolbachinsky Dol.
KIZIMEN VOLCANO (CAVW #1000-23-)
55.13 N, 160.32 E; Elevation 8151 ft (2485 m)
Aviation Color Code is YELLOW
Moderate seismic activity of the volcano was registered. According to video data, a weak gas-steam activity was observed. Satellite data showed a weak thermal anomaly over the volcano.
GORELY VOLCANO (CAVW #1000-07-)
52.56 N, 158.03 E; Elevation 5996 ft (1828 m)
Aviation Color Code is YELLOW
Moderate seismicity of the volcano was registered. Video and satellite data showed the volcano was obscured by clouds.

Aviation Color Codes |
GREEN Volcano is in normal, non-eruptive state or, after a change from a higher level: Volcanic activity considered to have ceased, and volcano reverted to its normal, non-eruptive state. |
YELLOW Volcano is experiencing signs of elevated unrest above known background levels. or, after a change from higher level: Volcanic activity has decreased significantly but continues to be closely monitored for possible renewed increase. |
ORANGE Volcano is exhibiting heightened unrest with increased likelihood of eruption. or,
Volcanic eruption is underway with no or minor ash emission. |
RED Eruption is forecast to be imminent with significant emission of ash into the atmosphere likely. or,
Eruption is underway with significant emission of ash into the atmosphere. |
