Current State: The moderate explosive eruption of the volcano continues. According to visual data from Severo-Kurilsk, explosions sent ash up to 3 km a.s.l. on 22, 24, and 27-28 September; ash clouds moved to the eastern directions of the volcano. Satellite data by KVERT showed a thermal anomaly over the volcano on 22, and 28 September; the volcano was obscured by clouds during other days of the week. 
Danger Prognosis for Aviation: The moderate explosive eruption of the volcano continues. Ash explosions up to 6 km (19,700 ft) a.s.l. could occur at any time. Ongoing activity could affect low-flying aircraft and airport of Severo-Kurilsk.
