Volcano belongs to the Avachinskaya group of a NW-trending series of volcanoes. Masurenkov believes that the volcano is situated at the intersection of longitudinal and transverse faults. The longitudinal fault forms the southeastern flank of the Thermal rift, a NE-trending regional structure. The structure comprises Upper Pleistocene-Holocene volcanoes and present hydro-thermal systems. The transverse fault is part of the Nalachevo zone aligned by the entire row of the Avachinsky-Koryaksky group of volcanoes.
