Geological and geophysical data on the large Fissure Tolbachik eruption of 1975-1976. Tolbachik eruption in 1975-1976 is the largest basaltic eruption of Kurile-Kamchatka volcanic belt which took place in the historic period and seems to be one of the most remarkable geological events on the Earth in our century. During this eruption a complex of seismological and other gophysical, geodetic, geological-geochemical investigations was carried out; In this book are presented the description of the eruption, data on its products, essential changes of the basalt composition during eruption, on magmatic gases and their metal content, volcanic earthquakes and tremor, on mechanism of this eruption, deformation of Earth’s surface due to basalt intrusion, deep structure of the region of eruption and etc.
On the whole this book is interesting for specialists in geology, geophysics and geochemistry, studying problems of volcanic and magmatic activity, volcanic products, sources of ore metals and geodynamics.

The reports, introduced on scientific session of the First International Kuril-Kamchatka field workshop, are published in this book. Papers are devoted to studying the geothermal and mineral resources of modern volcanism areas and, first of all, to researching the long-living ore-forming hydrothermal-magmatic systems of insular arcs. The following scientific themes in six sections are submited: (1) geothermal resources, common problems; (2) structure, thermal and power supply of hydrothermal-magmatic systems; (3) petrology, mineralogy and geochemistry of rocks; (4) geochemistry and dynamics of gases and natural waters; (5) ore mineralization in geothermal systems; (6) seismicity of geothermal regions and geotechnological aspects. The tendencies of development of researches, the new ideas and concrete actual materials on an example of geothermal fields of Kuril Islands and Kamchatka, and also New Zealand, Philippines, USA etc., are discussed. The new tasks of geothermal and mineral resources studying are formulated.
